TERKINI LAHAD DATU - MNLF beri amaran - akan hantar anggota andai pertempuran tercetus Posted: 26 Feb 2013 08:34 PM PST MANILA: The Moro National Liberation Front has indicated that they will send reinforcements if hostilities break out between the Filipino followers of the Sulu Sultan and Malaysian authorities. MNLF Special Branch Service Chief Khaber Sampang said they will send reinforcements once hostilities break out. He said "a full-blown hostility could erupt" once the Malaysians manhandle the heirs or followers of the Sultanate of Sulu. "War is not far away," said MNLF peace panel member Cesar Absalom, referring to the threat of Malaysia to forcibly evict the Royal Sultanate Army in Sabah. The Philippine Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas said on Tuesday that the Malaysians are running out of patience. Roxas said that the Malaysian government has given three extensions to the deadline for Agbimuddin Kiram and his followers, who encamped at Lahad Datu for the past two weeks, to leave Sabah and return to the Philippines. The Sultanate is no longer recognized by any state as a sovereign entity, but Malaysia has been paying token rent to the Kiram's ever since. Agbimuddin Kiram, who claimed Sabah is their home, has ignored calls from Malaysia to return to the Philippines. Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin said the flow of commerce between Sabah and the several islands in the southern Mindanao has stopped because of tight control of movement of people between the two countries as a result of the occupation. "The consequence of this incident is that barter trade has stopped. Prices of basic commodities in Tawi-Tawi jacked up," Gazmin said. "Kasi and Tawi-Tawi gets its supply of basic commodities and trade its products at Lahad Datu in Sabah, which is closer than Zamboanga City," he said. Gazmin said Kiram's defiance could result in Malaysian government crackdown against undocumented Filipinos in Sabah, which was estimated at about 800,000 and their fates are in the hands of Kiram. Political allies of President Aquino also joined calls on Kiram to end the standoff in Sabah and consider the welfare of Filipinos, who are now stateless because Malaysia considered them illegal immigrants. "Bringing the supposed Sabah heirs and government representatives in one table would allow discussions on the complex issues involved in the Sabah claim, including the plight of Sabah residents who have Filipino roots," Sen. Francis Escudero said. "The immediate concern of the government should be the welfare of Filipinos who were born and raised in Sabah, which is the bigger humanitarian issue that must be addressed through diplomatic channels," he said. "The welfare of our countrymen, who consider Sabah as their homeland, should be the focus of any government negotiation with the Malaysian government," Escudero said. Sultan unmoved The ailing Kiram sounded unmoved by President Beningo Aquino warning to stand down. At a news briefing in his house in Taguig City, Kiram rejected the President's appeal for him to immediately recall his men who have been occupying a part of Sabah for nearly three weeks. "I have already given my order to them. And they have to stay put in that area," Kiram said in a muffled voice. He said his men would not go back home "until an arrangement has been done by our officials and the President, and if that will be arranged accordingly with a written agreement signed by the parties concerned." Kiram said that in the last conversation he had with Agbimuddin on Monday, his younger brother told him that he and their 235 followers were firm in their decision to stay despite a food blockade ordered by the Malaysian authorities. Asked what actions Agbimuddin and his men might take if the deadline for them to leave Sabah expired, the Sulu sultan said: "I asked them to wait for orders from me or from my [other] brothers." Ready to be jailed Kiram, who has been suffering from diabetes for years, said he was ready to go to jail if the government filed a case against him and members of his clan. "It's OK with me. I'm already 74-years-old. An old man going to jail? It's OK," Kiram said. "I cannot understand what violation I made… I have always respected the Constitution. My brother went down there with his men and settled down in their own homeland. Is that a violation?" Asked if he considered Aquino's statement a threat, he said: "Maybe that's a threat for us." In a statement read by his daughter, Princess Jacel Kiram, the sultan reiterated that Agbimuddin and his men "will not initiate the violence… But we are prepared to defend our lives and aspirations." He said the Sabah issue "can be peacefully settled without threat, but in a diplomatic way." "Is it hard for Malaysia to sit down in a square table and to diplomatically settle the issue on the claim? All we ask is for Malaysia to sit down with the Kirams and come up with a win-win solution," Kiram stressed. Kiram insists he is the head of the Sulu sultanate, which once controlled parts of Borneo, including the site of the standoff. The sultanate leased the disputed area to Europeans in the 1870s. While the sultanate's authority gradually faded as Western colonial powers exerted their influence over the region, it continued to receive lease payments for Sabah, which became part of Malaysia in 1963. Foreign Undersecretary Jose Brillantes has flown to Kuala Lumpur to help resolve the situation. A ship the Philippines plans to use to ferry Kiram's supporters home remains on standby in Tawi-Tawi. |
Azim Zabidi [bekas Bendahari UMNO] disaman syarikat2 British RM12.4juta Posted: 26 Feb 2013 07:22 PM PST KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 ― Sixty British investors have sued former Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi and his IT company, Doxport Technologies Sdn Bhd, for allegedly misappropriating US$4 million (RM12.4 million) in 2009. Their lawyer, Hasnal Rezua Merican, said today that the British investors ― based in London and comprising both male and female professionals aged between 40 and 55 years, including bankers ― filed the suit in the High Court here last Wednesday against Doxport chairman Azim, director and CEO Sivalingam Thechinamoorthy, accounts department staff Gurmeet Kaur, and the firm. "They (the claimants) invested money into purchasing Telekom switches and equity in Doxport," Hasnal told The Malaysian Insider today. "They were promised that the Telekom switches would be theirs and they would hold it under equity in Doxport... but documents were falsified, just to give them an appearance that the switches are running in Malaysia," he added. Hasnal said that the 60 British citizens had invested about US$4 million into Doxport Technologies in January 2009, when Azim was Umno treasurer. Azim, who is currently the Bukit Bintang Umno division chief, was replaced by Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah in April 2009. Hasnal said that the investors lodged a police report in 2011 after discovering that there were no such Telekom switches operating in Malaysia. "Some documents were generated to show that the switches were receiving calls through them. All these were given to our clients to believe that the switches were operating. But finally when they came down to Malaysia, no switches were visible... So they ended up without any equity in Doxport and without any switches," he said. The lawyer added that the investors had aimed to generate income from the traffic of calls recorded by the switches, which Doxport claimed would run in Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Hasnal said the investors had come to know of Doxport after the company's lawyer approached a British citizen in the Pakistani community in London. "The investors were duped into believing that Doxport was carrying business activities in Cambodia. On the strength of the representation, they were asked to invest. But it was found out later that Doxport was never licensed to operate anything in Cambodia," he said. The lawyer added that the police have sent investigation papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers, noting that the investigation took 14 months. He said that the investors had also lodged a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in 2011, but pointed out that the regulator later decided not to press charges. "The complaint was they (Doxport) were operating without licence. (But) the finding made by the investigators of MCMC is there seems to be no evidence that they are operating any business at all," said Hasnal. The lawyer said that the investors were suing for the return of their investments, besides seeking general and exemplary damages. The investors have set up a website, which said that several British lawmakers have written to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on the case. "I call upon your government to instigate a full investigation of the company by the appropriate regulatory authority so as to restore the confidence of UK investors into the Malaysian market," Barry Gardiner, who is the Labour MP for Brent North, was quoted as saying. "I have now written on your behalf to the Foreign Secretary and to the Prime Minister of Malaysia. I also intend to raise a question in House regarding this case," Labour MP for Tottenham David Lammy was quoted as saying. Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin will hold a press conference later today on the case. Azim ― who served Bank Simpanan Nasional as chairman from 1999 to 2009, and the World Savings Bank Institute as vice-president from 2006 to 2009 ― is also tied up in the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal as the chairman of Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd, the main developer of the trans-shipment project.- TMI |

'This is the time' dan inilah waktunya - Azmin Ali Posted: 26 Feb 2013 08:36 AM PST Rakyat Malaysia telah melalui 12 kali pilihan raya umum. Sekiranya ada satu kesempatan untuk menang, this is the time dan inilah waktunya. Dari Perlis sampailah ke Sabah, baik petani, nelayan, guru, usahawan hinggalah para Jenderal, kini semuanya bersama Pakatan Rakyat. Kita bertuah, orang seperti Lt. Jen. Dan kini, kita telah berada di pusingan terakhir, at the last lap. We have the courage to be the true progressive. Kita berani mengungkapkan Agenda Ekonomi Malaysia untuk menggantikan Dasar Ekonomi Baru. We are fully committed to policies that is not based on race but on needs. Let us together dismantle racist agenda in our country. Kita mesti berpandangan jauh. Kita mesti berjiwa besar. We must win big. Carpe diem ! We must seize the moment ! A sustainable and durable government. Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim adalah the centre of gravity. Pengalaman beliau mentadbir serta hubungan baik beliau di peringkat antarabangsa dengan pimpinan negara mahupun pimpinan gerakan Islam seluruh dunia menjadi ketakutan rejim korup UMNO - BN. Kebijakan yang digarap melalui Buku Jingga, Belanjawan Pakatan Rakyat dan hari ini kita luncurkan manifesto bersama serta dukungan kuat rakyat Malaysia membuktikan bahawa Pakatan Rakyat will dictate GE 13 with our agenda. Bersandarkan kekuatan dan keyakinan ini, tidak perlu untuk saya bertanya are you ready? Akan tetapi saya tampil dan berdiri dengan tekad dan berani untuk menyatakan that we are ready. We are ready to govern this nation.
Posted: 26 Feb 2013 04:24 AM PST FEB 26 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad does protest too much. He says all this talk by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the opposition about him and nepotism is slander and that he is clean and his sons are self-made businessmen. I can only imagine that mixing around with the likes of Datuk Ibrahim Ali has made the former prime minister believe that all Malaysians have the IQ of Ibrahim. The simple reality is that we don't need Anwar to tell us what we know about you. All we need to do is remember the crony capitalism which you promoted, bumped up IPP contracts for certain cronies, a sweetheart deal to take over the national airline by another crony (who incidentally had a string of legal suits against him by government entities miraculously settled because he knew too much about your dealings and promises to him), the bailout of Konsortium Perkapalan during the financial crisis by MISC. Oh yes, we also remember your pathetic performance at the Royal Commission of Inquiry on the Lingam video where you suddenly had amnesia. But thankfully the commissioners saw through your act and named you and your friends (Lingam and Vincent Tan) as parties who subverted the course of justice. Mahathir, you have never declared your assets to Malaysians. We still don't know how you bought that nice home in the Mines or why is it that the likes of Syed Mokhtar and others love lending their private jets to you or taking you on six-star holidays jaunts. You say that your children are self-made businessmen. Can you let us know how Mokhzani became a businessman in the first place, the Tongkah deals, etc. And what about Mirzan (congrats on becoming a shareholder of San Miguel... burp). And what about young Mukhriz. By all accounts, he is not a smart chap but he does own a palatial home in Bukit Tunku. Yes, why don't you pen the rags-to-riches story of your boys. I don't even mind if they are sold in the fiction section. Anwar Ibrahim and the opposition are not guilty of slander: they are only guilty of telling Malaysians what fools we have been to believe your lies all these years. The true story of Mahathir and his boys can only be unearthed after Malaysia has a change of a political system. How about it, Malaysians? * Othman Wahab reads The Malaysian Insider. * This is the personal opinion of the writer or publication and does not necessarily represent the views of The Malaysian Insider. |

ISU LAHAD DATU : Kerajaan Perlu Tegas Pertahankan Kedaulatan Sabah - DSAI Posted: 25 Feb 2013 11:10 PM PST PETALING JAYA: Ketua Pembangkang, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim meminta kerajaan agar lebih tegas dalam isu pencerobohan kumpulan yang mendakwa tentera Kesultanan Sulu yang menetap di Kampung Tanduo, Lahad Datu sejak dua minggu lalu. Beliau berkata, kerajaan sepatutnya mengutamakan keselamatan rakyat dan kedaulatan negeri Sabah kerana ia merupakan perkara utama berbanding membela penceroboh yang enggan meninggalkan Lahad Datu. "Puak penceroboh sepatutnya dihantar pulang. |
