Im going to Venice, Italy soon and ive heard that some things they find insulting such as ordering a coffee with milk after a certain time? Anything else i should know about?

Answer on What could insult people in Venice, Italy?

1. The word "ciao" may put some people off. I know it's an international way of saying hello (and goodbye) and all but you need to know that it is terribly informal. You would use "ciao" with people your own age or slightly older. You would reply with "ciao" with anyone else who uses it first. For people you don't know and who are older than you then you should greet with a simple "Good Day" / "Buon Giorno" or "Good evening" "Buona Sera".

2. The coffee thing is dumb although you'll get picked out immediately as a "weird" foreigner if you have cappuccino with a meal of anytime after noon time. Please don't ever have a cappuccino with your pizza! The waiters will laugh you down.

3. Venice is not a clean city and I dare say that the Venetians sometime do their best to keep it dirty. All the same, don't throw your trash on the ground... although you will have to hunt for a waste bin!

Hope these few tips will help you have a better stay!
