Do Lighter Italians Discriminate Against Darker Italians? Posted: 13 Nov 2011 08:53 AM PST In the Italy? How about Italians in America? Answer on Do Lighter Italians Discriminate Against Darker Italians? Hi there, I'm Italian and this is one of the many things that make me ashamed of this country. People here do discriminate each other but not because of the skin tone or physical appearance (fortunately both of them are very varied in Italy so it would be impossible to do so), just because the north is more industralized and rich. People from north and south do not understand each other, mentalities are different... but that's not supposed to be bad, I think something varied can only be good. Strong racism originates from these differences though... it's ridiculous. I don't know about Italians in America and as for the other countries each one has got a different situation, in some of them there's discrimination against ethnic minorities, but I think that happens just anywhere unfortunately. |
