San Antonio has a large Italian population and it has brought the cultural diversity such a large city needs. Along the Gulf Coast of Texas is a railroad, called the macaroni line. Italian Immigrants built the railroad from Houston to Brownsville, then settled in the coastal plains of Texas. Here they started businesses and brought their own flair to the area. Many surnames in East Texas are of Italian origin.  |
