2010 -2020 nak bankrap tapi ETP RM1.4 trillion

Mungkin sebab tu akhbar The Guardian pilih Malaysia untuk terbit kisah Dr. Mazlan jadi Jurucakap ET...Saja nak mendajal. Cerita hantupun banyak kat TV3 la ni..he he!!

Mazlan: It is cool, but I'm no ET spokesman

PETALING JAYA: The rumoured appointment of the first earthling spokesman to visiting extra-terresterial life forms last week is a hoax, said National Space Agency Malaysia director-general Dr Mustafa Din Subari.

He said United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa) head Datuk Mazlan Othman, who was rumoured to be the spokesman, had confirmed to him in an e-mail yesterday that there was no such appointment.

British newspaper The Guardian also quoted in its blog that Mazlan had refuted the purported appointment.

"It sounds really cool but I have to deny it," Mazlan, an astrophysicist, was quoted as saying when responding to the rumours.

The Sunday Times of Britain had run a report claiming that Mazlan would be appointed by the United Nations as the earth's official point-of-contact with aliens.

The article was later picked up by other media worldwide, including several local newspapers, which attracted much public interest in Mazlan's "new role".

Mazlan could not be contacted at her Vienna office yesterday.

Dr Mustafa, however, said that if any such appointment was to have been made, Mazlan would have been the best candidate for the job.

"You do not want a spokesman from just anywhere. Mazlan is in the highest position of outer space affairs.

"Coupled with her credentials as an astrophysicist, she would be the most appropriate candidate to take up such a role," Dr Mustafa said of his predecessor, whose position he took over in 1999 after Mazlan left to assume her role in Unoosa.

Dr Mustafa added that scientists worldwide were still hopeful about communication with extra-terresterial life.

"Theoretically, scientists internationally are still confident in the existence of extra-terresterial life as we have found other solar systems, although we cannot yet ascertain whether there is life in those systems," said Dr Mustafa, who also admitted that studies in the past 50 years had not produced concrete evidence of extra-terresterial life forms.

Masjid Bukit Indah terkini....

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 06:02 PM PDT

Wallahu'alam.

DPM agrees Sodomy II trial bad for business
By Yow Hong ChiehSeptember 28, 2010

Muhyiddin: If you ask me, personally, would you like this case to be in the Malaysian court? I wouldn't like this case to be in the Malaysian court.
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today admitted that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial was bad for the country's image and said that the sooner the case was disposed of, the better.

"If you ask me, personally, would you like this case to be in the Malaysian court? I wouldn't like this case to be in the Malaysian court," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

"Of course, it's true that... if there's no any cases of such that is high profile, then Malaysia will be much better positioned.

"The sooner this matter is resolved, the better for us."

Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson yesterday said the ongoing Sodomy II trial was "a thorn" in Malaysia's otherwise good reputation, and urged the prime minister to intervene in the matter.

"If you're a bold leader, you should get rid of things like this which are damaging your reputation," he had said.

Despite Branson's outspoken remarks, Muhyiddin said he did not think the British entrepreneur was intervening in the country's internal affairs but rather making a "genuine" comment in the best interest of Malaysia.

"His remarks are in the context of how to help Malaysia further move forward and draw the bigger investment that we need," the deputy prime minister said.

"His comment is taken in light of how to support Malaysia's initiative, and I want to take that sort of angle as to what he is saying."

Muhyiddin also stressed that Anwar's trial was not a government conspiracy, as alleged by some, pointing out that the case did not fall under the jurisdiction of the government but Malaysia's "very established" judicial system.

"It is a case which is... not being brought by any parties except [an] individual who felt that he has the right to be... judged and, of course, the right to be protected by whatever law in the country, as far as the sodomy case is concerned," he said.

Anwar, the 62-year-old PKR de facto leader, is charged with sodomising his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, at Unit 11-5-1 of the Desa Damansara Condominium in Jalan Setiakasih, Bukit Damansara here between 3.01pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008.

The former deputy prime minister has denied the charge, describing it as "evil, frivolous lies by those in power" when the charge was read out to him. He is charged under section 377B of the Penal Code and can be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years' jail and whipping upon conviction. The trial is taking place 18 months after Anwar was charged in court in August 2008.

Anwar was charged with sodomy and corruption in 1998 after he was sacked from the Cabinet and was later convicted and jailed for both offences.

He was freed in September 2004 and later resurrected his political career by winning back his Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat in a by-election in 2008, which had been held in the interim by his wife.

He had earlier led the opposition coalition, Pakatan Rakyat, to a historic sweep of five states and 82 parliamentary seats in Election 2008.

Anwar's Sodomy II trial will resume on October 14.
