| LATEST COMMENT ON SCORPENE BY ZAHID Posted: 03 Jul 2010 07:24 PM PDT BODOH KER RAKYAT MALAYSIA Zahid: No need to probe Perimekar There is no need for the MACC to probe claims that commission was paid to Perimekar Sdn Bhd over the procurement of Scorpene submarines, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said. This is despite Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia'srevelation on Wednesday that the MACC was investigating claims that more than RM500mil was paid as commission to Perimekar, which is owned by AbdulRazak Baginda, for its part in the procurement of the French-madesubmarines. In a written reply to William Leong (PKR - Selayang), who had submitted amotion for the Dewan Rakyat to discuss the matter, Pandikar had said that he was informed that the MACC was investigating the matter, and he therefore rejected the motion. "I feel there is no need to bring the matter to the MACC because (the deal)was approved by the Finance Ministry" |
