Black 505 June 22 – Our Date with Destiny

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 05:48 PM PDT

Bad faith is not a good start to the exercise of executive power. What more from those who have no legitimacy. Federal Territory Minister Tengku Adnan Yaakob has been busy barking out orders as to when and where the people may gather for our fateful rally. Collectively, they are making it extremely difficult to hold tomorrow's rally at Padang Merbok even though we have bent backwards to accommodate them. That is bad faith writ large.
We know that this arrogance of power is the result of power being usurped. They have come to power not by popular vote but by a combined process of decades of gerrymandering and outright systematic fraud.
Yes, indeed we have been mild and we have been patient. The people have exercised extreme self-restraint so far. Instead of taking to the street, the people have only held rallies and peaceful assemblies to show their anger, protest and disappointment. They want justice of course starting with the chair and deputy chair of the Elections Commission stepping down and an overhaul of the electoral system. Is that too much to ask? As T.S. Eliot would say in situations like these: RESIGN, RESIGN, RESIGN.
Having robbed us of our electoral victory, the UMNO-BN government has also committed a long list of wrongdoings – arresting innocent protesters, prosecuting activists and opposition leaders under the Peaceful Assembly Act, threatening to revoke passports, etc. The list is just too long to enumerate. At the same time, incitement to racial hatred and fear mongering is given free reign. The culprits among whom are a former Prime Minister and an ex-senior judge are going about it with impunity aided by UMNO's main media organ.
We won the elections but UMNO has used the Elections Commission to steal our victory. They have cheated the people. They have violated their rights. And now the police are being instructed to issue unwarranted threats of prosecution if we proceed with this rally.
To the people, let me say this:
Ignore these threats. It is your constitutional right to assemble peacefully. Your lives cannot be dictated by the police, or UMNO or the Prime Minister.

The Police Spin on Black 505

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 05:42 PM PDT

Malaysians have the right to go to the streets if the Government does not deal with their concerns. The Black 505 protest tomorrow is not the first time Malaysians have taken to the streets to send a strong message to a recalcitrant government. I remember BERSIH 1.0, which I participated, and Hindraf in November, 2007, BERSIH 2.0, Lawyers Putrajaya Protest, and so on. They have all been very orderly and peaceful. except when the Police and the FRU decided to use tear gas and water cannons, in the case of Hindraf, 2007 and BERSIH2.0, 2011.

BERSIH2.0, July 2007
It is well known that Police personnel in plain clothes have often been used as agent provocateurs to create a ruckus, thereby providing the justification for a show of force by the Police and the FRU. The organisers say that Black 505 will be conducted peacefully. There is no reason to doubt them. All the Police have to do is to cooperate with the leaders of Black 505 movement, and ensure that their Police and FRU personnel exercise restraint. But with this claim by the Kuala Lumpur Police, Black 505 tomorrow could turn ugly.
zahid hamidi khalid abu bakar'
I appeal to my fellow Malaysians not to react to any provocation by  extreme elements among them who will taunt and irritate them to no end. The authorities want to discredit the Black 505 rally and put the blame to the Opposition led by Anwar Ibrahim. We never know what will be in store for protesting Malaysians on June 22 since we have a new Minister of Home Affairs and the Inspector-General of Police (above) who are keen to show their power.

Black 505: Minta bantuan tentera bukti polis panik

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 05:38 PM PDT

Edy Noor Reduan

WHY SHOULD PR PLAN CLASHES? Rafizi slams 'lies' by KL police chief, to sue for defamation

WHY SHOULD PR PLAN CLASHES? Rafizi slams 'lies' by KL police chief, to sue for defamationI was shocked by the statement Kuala Lumpur police chief, Dato Mohamed Salleh released a while ago. Among other things, the statement accused the organizers of issuing a directive to provoke the police.

As the official spokesperson of the Black 505 rallies, I vehemently deny the allegations. The police can evaluate all my press releases and reports on all the gatherings. None have directed any provocation or roughness against the police force.

I am also the main organizer of the gathering at Padang Merbok tomorrow and am involved in all the planning. At no time did we ever threatened any roughness against the police force, but instead I could communicate well with the Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainuddin Ahmad.

As such, the statement issued by Dato 'Mohamed Salleh is not true and gives a bad impression of me as the organizer. I have instructed my lawyers to take legal action against Dato' Mohamed Salleh as his statement was untrue and defames me.

I also defend my statement made this afternoon that the organizers had received an informal signal from the senior police leadership that the police will co-operate to allow the rally to proceed smoothly tomorrow. I trust this decision will be adhered to by all levels of leadership of the police as well as in the Home Ministry.

OPEN SUBSERVIENCE TO UMNO: Cops warn of PR-instigated clashes at Black 505

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 11:41 AM PDT

Police have warned people to stay away from the Black 505 rally tomorrow, saying it could turn violent. They claimed that the rally organisers are planning to ignite clashes with the authorities.
In an immediate response to this claim, PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli expressed shock, as he is one of the main organisers of the event. He strongly denied these allegations, which he said were seditious.
OPEN SUBSERVIENCE TO UMNO: Cops warn of PR-instigated clashes at Black 505City police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said police have received intelligence that the organisers of the rally have ordered protestors to "provoke" the police and cause chaos at all seven meeting points and at the main gathering place, Padang Merbok.
"The organisers want to see clashes between the police and the protestors," Mohmad said in a statement sent to the media.
Police claimed the rally organisers are expected to create chaos in the city to make waves on social media when the police quell the riots, presenting the cops as the bad guy.
The police chief insisted that tomorrow's event is an illegal gathering as it would breach the Peaceful Assembly Act.
The warning about violence came a day after the Federal Internal Security and Public Order director Datuk Salleh Mat Rashid had said that police will seek the help of the army, if necessary, for crowd control.

Mohmad's statement raised eyebrows as earlier today, PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli, appeared optimistic that police will ensure that the rally proceeds smoothly.

Rafizi had said that the organisers had been unofficially informed by Dang Wangi police that they will assist, as long as there was no damage caused by the protestors to public property.

"We received this assurance from ASP Ananthan Rajoo from the Dang Wangi district police headquarters, who said that he received instructions from the top to 'help'," Rafizi said in a statement.
"We remain positive that we will get all the help we need," he said.

DAP calls on ALL MEMBERS to join June 22 Black 505: Citizens must protest 'dirty' GE13

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 11:40 AM PDT

DAP calls on ALL MEMBERS to join June 22 Black 505: Citizens must protest 'dirty' GE13DAP fully supports the Black 505 rally this weekend as it is the right of people to protest the 13th general election, which was not 'clean' or transparent.
DAP sees it as the responsibility of citizens to protest against the flawed process of the 13th general election which was dirty and unfair. The right to assemble is also a basic human right and the police should help rather than hinder the expression of the people's freedom.

All members are encouraged to join the rally and wear black.

DAP members will gather at Jalan Sultan opposite Hotel Lok Ann starting from 12 noon, and all members will begin walking to Padang Merbok at 2pm.

Dalam satu kenyataan media yang dikeluarkan petang tadi, Ketua Polis Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Mohmad Salleh berkata, keputusan ini terpaksa dibuat kerana polis mendapat maklumat perhimpunan akan menjadi kacau-bilau.

Selangor mahu pujuk Ketua Pembangkang ketuai PAC

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 05:30 AM PDT

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 05:05 AM PDT

Black 505: Kerajaan 'sihat' benarkan himpunan aman

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:53 AM PDT
