‘We are not liars; Upko has lost its way’

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 08:01 PM PST

Former Upko deputy president Wilfred Bumburing claims Upko leaders are in denial and have lost focus.

KOTA KINABALU: If Tuaran MP Wilfred Bumburing had any lingering feelings of goodwill for his former party, the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko), it's gone for sure now.
The joint founder of the party who quit the Barisan Nasional component three months ago is convinced the wheels have come off his former political vehicle and said party leaders who portray themselves as champions of Sabah's rights are pretending that a problem does not exist.
Responding after reading hostile comments from his former colleagues including his former boss Bernard Dompok, Bumburing said he was surprised that party leaders were in denial that the BN component had lost its purpose and direction by remaining in the governing coalition.
The former Upko deputy president said it was widely acknowledged both within and outside the party that the community and Sabahans as a whole remained marginalised despite Upko's position in the BN for nearly 20 years.
The Tuaran MP who now heads opposition-friendly Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) said he felt double-crossed by party leaders who had earlier agreed with him that the party was ineffective in redressing the injustices inflicted on Sabah.

Dasar 'cincai' Kerajaan BN seksa pemilik kenderaan

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 07:50 PM PST

Kalau hendak menjadi mukmin, dugaan besar wajib dilalui

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 07:47 PM PST

Jika Tiada Fatwa, Mengapa Tiada Tindakan Ke Atas Utusan & Abdullah Sama'ah?

Tiada fatwa istilah 'Kafir Harbi', kata Jamil Khir.

How many more financial scandals that have emptied our national coffers can Malaysia afford?

By Chua Jui Meng
The RM250 million Cowgate fracas has hardly settled and now we have the RM40 million Sabah Umno crony scandal.
If the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) had not been hijacked, low-income Malaysians today would be enjoying affordable beef.
We will not be paying about RM27 for a kilogramme of beef now when it was only about RM7 per kg in 2000.
The NFC project would have been successful if the RM250 million had been distributed to 1,000 experienced cattle breeders nationwide, with each getting RM250,000 to expand their herd of cattle.
What knowledge or credentials do Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's husband and her children have to justify them to be given the project allocation?
Now we have Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nazri Abdul Aziz's defence of Sabah Umno crony timber tycoon Michael Chia.

Kemampuan Nik Aziz dipersoal dan diperlekeh UMNO

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 07:41 PM PST

Najib's SCORPENES: BN activists try to use Suaram's NGO status to beat off French charges

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 06:22 PM PST

Najib's SCORPENES: BN activists try to use Suaram's NGO status to beat off French chargesSix non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today urged the French government to conduct an investigation on Suara Rakyat Malaysia (SUARAM) for wrongly filing a report in 2009 on the purchase of two French-made Scorpene submarines by Malaysia.
Young Malaysian Journalists Club (YMJC) president, Dzulkarnain Taib said the NGOs had handed over a joint memorandum to the French Ambassador to Malaysia, Martine Dorance at the embassy, here at 2.30 pm today.
Besides YMJC, the memorandum was also signed by Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia, Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia, Malaysia Malay Network, Malaysian Crime Prevention Awareness Board and Malaysian Consumerism Protection Board.
He said the memorandum demanded the French government to investigate SUARAM for acting as a bogus non-governmental organisation and had manipulated the French justice system in the Scorpene probe.
"SUARAM's false pretension could threaten the long-established relationship between Malaysia and France," he told Bernama here today.
Dzulkarnain claimed SUARAM had acted in bad faith to claim itself as a bona fide representative of the Malaysian people and wrongfully used this charade to hoodwink the French courts to be appointed as the plaintiff or parti civile vis-avis the Scorpene issue. —  Bernama

Najib so weak, even Zaid Ibrahim wants to contest in PEKAN

Najib so weak, even Zaid Ibrahim wants to contest in PEKAN
When a nice journalist from The Star asked me why I had decided to resign as KITA chief, I said that I wanted to focus on the General Election and leave the running of the party to all my friends. My health dictates that I do not suffer too much stress. I also said that in case Dato' Seri Abdul Hadi Awang declined to contest against Prime Minister Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak in Pekan, then I would gladly do so.
This is not a desperate act to look for a seat to contest as some have claimed. It is also not true that I have applied to PKR or any Opposition party to be the Pekan candidate. I have said it before and I will say it again: I will not apply to any political party to be a candidate.
I made this statement to tell the Malaysian public that I want to help the Opposition in any way I can. My party is too small and new to give me a credible platform. Hadi will face a tough time in Pekan, and I wonder why he should be put there at such risk. He is PAS President and for the sake of its own long-term viability, PAS cannot afford to have a President who loses in an election.

Johor NO LONGER Umno fort - survey

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 06:15 PM PST

A survey by the PAS research centre concluded that Johor, the birthplace of UMNO, is no longer the BN party's stronghold.
Johor NO LONGER Umno fort - survey Instead, the centre's operating director Zuhdi Marzuki said that with 14 out of 26 Johor parliamentary constituencies enjoying less than 50 percent support for UMNO and BN, Melaka has replaced the state as UMNO's fortress.
Zuhdi said among the seats are Segamat, Labis, Ledang, Bakri, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Gelang Patah, Tebrau, Pasir Gudang, Tebrau, Johor Bharu, Pulai and Kulai.
The findings would also mean that Pakatan Rakyat, which has intensified its campaign in the southern state, long thought to be UMNO's 'fixed deposit' for votes, stands a good chance of wresting it at the coming polls.
Zuhdi said several criteria were considered in the survey to determine whether UMNO and BN continued to enjoy public support.

Vote BN, remain sidelined

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 05:50 PM PST

If the Indians decide to go with BN, then there is only one result they can hope to achieve, which is to continue to be street sweepers and lorry drivers.

It is quite clear that Hindraf is out to reinstate Umno as the kingpin in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly through its political vehicle, the Human Rights Party (HRP).
Its decision to stand in Selangor is a clear indication that all it wants to do is to deliver Selangor to Umno.
This will happen via the backdoor because I'm very certain that HRP will not win a single seat at the coming general election and its secretary-general, P Uthayakumar himself, knows that and has secretly acknowledged it.
The only thing the Indians in this country have to realise is that self-seeking individuals who claim to champion their cause actually use these Indians (the Tamillians, in particular) for their very own purposes.
HRP may not come outright and join the Barisan Nasional as that will be very difficult, but it will be a BN-friendly party just like the independents in the Perak State Legislative Assembly today.
Never in the history of Malaysia have the Indians had better representation in government. Yet when they have achieved it, their very own people – HRP and Hindraf, the movements that claimed to champion their cause – came to destroy it, claiming that the Pakatan Rakyat state governments have done nothing for them.

'WHO KILLED ALTANTUYA' may well enter the Worlds's Guinness Book of Records

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 05:49 PM PST

'WHO KILLED ALTANTUYA' may well enter the Worlds's Guinness Book of RecordsIf BN wants to ride the storms building up as we countdown to our mother-of-elections, GE 13, it must solve the mysteries surrounding the brutal slaying of a foreign national – and a mother and daughter she happens to be.
So far none within the rank and files of BN have had the courage to echo with all concerned citizens the piercing questions that remain shrouded in swaddles of political intrigue and mystery:
Why was a lone woman, who was helpless in the powerful arms of slayers so brutally annihilated with C4?
How come we do not know and neither do the Palace of Justice want to unravel as to who authorized the use of military grade explosive on a single, lone mother?
Who gave the marching orders for the diligent Immigration staff to delete all entry and egress records of a visitor to our nation who came here without the slightest clue of what dangers lay ahead of her given the plotting mysterious people who would have had a hand in the eventual murder of Altantuya?
How come it has been ruled that motive is not significant to establish the whole truth and nothing but the truth?
These are questions that have asked relentless in public forums and in the alternate media as well as in private conversations, corporate corridors and at warongs all across the country.

Ants in the pants?

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 05:48 PM PST

Has BN has run out of ideas to attack Pakatan and is therefore grasping at straws and building ideas based on fantasy?

The Barisan Nasional leaders are acting like ants in the pants of the Pakatan Rakyat leaders. "Ants in the pants" is a Cantonese phrase that is used to describe very irritating or annoying people that are difficult to be rid of.
A few examples are enough to illustrate this point.
The first example comes from Umno's Kota Belud MP Abdul Rahman Dahlan who is of the view that the accounts of the Pakatan-helmed states needed to be re-checked as something may have been done to enhance the performance of these states for the audit report, which was issued on Oct 15 to all MPs in Parliament.
The Auditor-General had to silence him by issuing a statement that the Auditor-General's Office is neutral at all times.
Certainly there is no reason to suspect anything amiss as both Pakatan-helmed states and BN-led states had received both kudos and brickbats in the audit report. Of course, BN had the more and bigger blunders than Pakatan, but that is nothing for the former to complain about as it had been governing since Independence and given their skills at governance, it is thus not a surprise.
The raising of this issue clearly shows that BN has run out of ideas to attack Pakatan and is therefore grasping at straws and building ideas based on fantasy.
Another person full of fantasy and illusory ideas is none other than MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek who is living in constant fear that hudud will be implemented if Pakatan comes to power and he has gone on the warpath against hudud.

THICK-SKINNED & BLACK HEARTS: The result of Dr M's UGLY MALAY agenda

Posted: 06 Nov 2012 05:47 PM PST

THICK-SKINNED & BLACK HEARTS: The result of Dr M's UGLY MALAY agenda
It's difficult to use a yardstick when it comes to assessing the Malay community in Malaysia. But while there has so far been no exact science in going about analyzing the Malay race, what is however certain and sure is that they have become divided and fragmented in the arena of socio-politics at present.
While under the Mahathir regime's administration, Malays seemed to have enjoyed a certain albeit false sense of camaraderie and unity, the same cannot even be said for the Malay race as of now.
Not only are they skewered three-ways politically, between UMNO, PAS and PKR, but in many other ways the Malay community in Malaysia have shown evidence of becoming increasingly disintegrated and the fact is there doesn't seem to be any possibility whatsoever of them coming together ever again.
The fault seems to be better education and better dissemination of information; in short, evolution. Malays have become more sophisticated in their thoughts and the political competition offered by the likes of PAS and PAS versus the monopoly wielded by UMNO means the split is here to stay.
In fact, the divisions along both political and religious lines are set to become more acrimonious in the future. And the culprits behind this unhappy scenario is none other than the UMNO Malays who have earmarked for themselves an ambitious but unrealistic future much to the disappointment of not only non-UMNO Malays but the Chinese and Indians as well.
