PKR lancar ‘Pakatan Harapan Rakyat’

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 09:25 PM PDT

PETALING JAYA: PKR selangkah lagi menuju Pilihan Raya Umum ke-13 (PRU) apabila melancarkan kempen bertemakan 'Pakatan Harapan Rakyat' sebagai medium menyahkan fitnah politik BN.

BAFIA was never meant to HIDE WRONGDOING - Rafizi's lawyers fire back at NFC's legal team

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 09:04 PM PDT

BAFIA was never meant to HIDE WRONGDOING - Rafizi's lawyers fire back at NFC's legal teamWe refer to the statement issued on 2.11.2012 by NFC lawyers Shafee & Co calling for the Attorney General and Bank Negara to 'stand firm' on the BAFIA charges against Keadilan leader Rafizi Ramli.
This is a self-serving and preposterous statement by the legal representatives of the NFC, bearing in mind that Rafizi's act had revealed misuse of the RM 250 million government loan given to NFC.
What business or moral authority do they have to issue statements on the BAFIA charges against Rafizi?
Rafizi's exposures were a public-spirited act which should not have led to criminal charges being laid against him.
A-G & Bank Negara a disgrace
The A-G and Bank Negara disgraced themselves by bringing these politically motivated BAFIA charges against Rafizi. Indeed, it is clear that the authorities charged Rafizi because his exposures had embarrassed and politically damaged UMNO/BN.

NONSENSE! Taib Mahmud would never lie - TRUE OR FALSE?

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 09:03 PM PDT

NONSENSE! Taib Mahmud would never lie - TRUE OR FALSE?Last year Mahmud made a big fuss, calling Sarawak Report liars for drawing attention to the fact that he has destroyed nearly all of Sarawak's rainforest.
We had said that less than 5% of the primary jungle remains and even that is now being cut down.
But the Chief Minister went on record to deny it and claimed that over 70% of Sarawak's rainforest remains virgin and untouched!
If it were not so sad it would have been a laughable claim.
However, Taib and his flunkeys have gone on to try and claim that satellite information and international statistics support his ridiculous percentages and that Sarawak Report has been "wrong".
His brother-in-law the greedy Robert Geneid, who took hold of Mulu and who has benefitted from huge concessions of former forest land, has even set up is own Foundation 'in support of the environment".  Is that their idea of a family joke?
International consensus grows
However, Taib is finding it hard to find anyone credible to support his position. To the contrary a growing body of international opinion has been developing in support of our criticism and concern over his rape of his own homeland and his abuse of his own peoples.
This is how the world's most respected current affairs magazine The Economist has described the situation in Sarawak this week:
The article focusses on the fact that 'green' bank HSBC has been giving loans to Sarawak timber companies, despite the state's appalling environmental record
The article says:

BULLY UMNO: "I'M POWERFUL" Nazri repeats Shahrizat's 'pretty boy' jibe at Rafizi

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 09:02 PM PDT

A transcript of press interview with Nazri Aziz  has been making waves on the internet, in which the embattled minister in the Prime Minister's Department launched a personal attack on PKR stategic director Rafizi Ramli repeating the same insult thrown by his former cabinet colleague Shahrizat Abdul Jalil in the National Feedlot Corporation saga.
BULLY UMNO: "I'M POWERFUL" Nazri repeats Shahrizat's 'pretty boy' jibe at RafiziIn the transcript published by news portal Malaysiakini, Nazri stubbornly denied any knowledge of his son Nedim Nazri's links with businessman Michael Chia, following Rafizi's revelation of documents and pictures to show that the Sabahan businessman's half-a-million ringgit Hummer was being used by Nedim.
"He wants to report, he report lah. You know, he's a clarinet player, he told me in his tweet. In Malay College [Kuala Kangsar], when he (enrolled), I was not around, but those who play the clarinet are jambu [pretty], you know. Ni jambu punya style la," said Nazri, clearly irritated by a reporter's suggestion that Rafizi might report him to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
On Twitter, Rafizi said he had no problem with the label.
"In my lingo at school jambu = good looking/handsome. So am ok with that," remarked Rafizi, a former student of Malay College Kuala Kangsar.
"I am rich man, I'm powerful"

Earlier this year, Shahrizat, whose family members had been exposed by Rafizi for mismanagement of the government-funded NFC, labeled Rafizi the same.
"They say this person has aspirations to become UMNO Wanita Chief, so it will be appropriate for us to send our red and white uniform to him. If he wears it, he would look good as he is a 'pretty' boy," Shahrizat said, weeks before she stepped down from cabinet.
Yesterday, Rafizi  published evidences showing Chia's black Hummer bearing the plate number WNX9776 being driven by the thirty-something Nedim's family bodyguard to and fro his luxury residence in Clearwater Residence, Damansara Heights and Bangsar Shopping Complex where he has a shop.

AMAN-GATE: Can Najib who can't clear his own mess clean up for Nazri & Musa

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 09:01 PM PDT

Minister in Prime Minister's Department cum de dacto law minister Nazri Abdul Aziz's attempt to disown responsibilities for his contradictory statements in parliament on ground that he was only the reader – not the author – of those statements has brought serious concern to the soundness of the Barisan Nasional political leadership.
AMAN-GATE: Can Najib who can't clear his own mess clean up for Nazri & MusaThe senior minister was confronted with evidence of his son Nedim's family using a luxurious vehicle registered in Michael Chia's name, who together with Musa Aman (Sabah chief minister), were cleared by Nazri of corruption in parliament earlier.
Nazri had provided written answers in parliament that there was no corruption in the four-year- old scandal where Chia was alleged to have been arrested in Hong Kong for trying to smuggle S$16 million of Musa's cash to Malaysia. Nazri also denied that Chia was arrested, or that he had cash with him. Nazri attributed these findings to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Attorney General (AG).
Talking to reporters on Nov 1, Nazri explained that all his statements in parliament came from the MACC and AG, over whom he had no control. He was only the minister answering questions in parliament on issues that he was not involved in. As such, he sees no conflict of interest with Michael Chia. Sadly and shamefully, Nazri was in effect saying that he merely parroted what these government agencies told him, for which he disavowed any responsibility.
BREACH OF PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY
Nazri's stance immediately raises an alarm. If Nazri disclaims responsibility over his statements, then who is responsible to parliament for them?
Nazri is a cabinet minister in the prime minister's department, looking after parliamentary affairs, as well as de facto law minister.

Makin Nyayuk : Kerjasama Pakatan Rakyat hanya sementara kata Tok Ki Det

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 08:54 PM PDT

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad KHARTOUM, Sudan - Bekas Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad menyifatkan kerjasama pakatan pembangkang bersifat sementara dan sekadar mahu memenangi pilihan raya umum.

Pejabat ketua menteri Pulau Pinang menjalankan satu siasatan selepas satu laman web pro-MCA, Souminews menerbitkan satu rakaman audio dengan judul provokatif "Mendedahkan rakaman audio rahsia Lim Guan Eng & Cheong Yin Fan (Revealing Lim Guan Eng & Cheong Yin Fan's secret audio recording)".

Rampasan kuasa 4 Februari 2009 masih menghantui MB Mahkamah Zambry Kadiaq...

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 06:42 PM PDT

Ops Lalang 1987: Kediktatoran Mahathir rapatkan Guan Eng, Mat Sabu

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 06:39 PM PDT

The scourge of voter apathy

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 06:35 PM PDT

Our writer laments the attitude of eligible voters who won't exercise their right.

There is a general impression among those who follow the news that political consciousness among Malaysians has been rising dramatically in the last decade or so.
Indeed, not many would argue against the belief that Malaysians are becoming more aware of their rights as citizens in a democracy, more ready to assert and defend those rights and less susceptible to the influence of propaganda.
Yet, according to figures released by the Election Commission last June, more than 20% of those eligible to vote have not registered to exercise that right.
To our knowledge, no credible research has been done to find out why one out of every five potential voters in Malaysia has chosen note to participate in the democratic process.
However, the greater question is whether such a high level of apathy is acceptable at this stage of our history.

Do they know what we want?

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 06:34 PM PDT

Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat say that the time for change is nigh – just as long as the change is for their own good – not ours!

We know Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat better than they know themselves.
BN ridicules the impossibility of Pakatan coalition partners working with each other within the confines of their own political ideologies. Three diametrically opposing political entities that BN hopes will be torn asunder by hudud and the realities of power sharing where race and religion, not needs, will decide who will be in government.
Pakatan is spoilt for choice. They are tripping over themselves as to what they should do next to expose the abuses and mismanagement in government by BN.
Does Pakatan start with exposing the need for greed amongst BN politicians and the corruption that goes with it or will Pakatan 'educate' the public on the massive abuse and misuse by BN of their political power to achieve their political agenda – that of remaining in government at all costs?
I have news for BN and Pakatan – We already know all this and more!

From order to confusion?

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 06:33 PM PDT

While Mahathir was a disciplined and a decisive no-nonsense leader, Najib's major flip-flops in the last four years says a lot about the man's mettle.

One cannot help but compare the contrasting styles of leadership between the fourth and the sixth Malaysian prime ministers.
The fourth, Dr Mahathir Mohamad of course had the longest tenure which stands at 22 years while the sixth, Najib Tun Razak may be facing the prospect of being the one with the shortest tenures if he loses the 13th general election next year as he would have been holding the post for about four years only.
The fifth prime minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, took over the premiership from Mahathir on Oct 31, 2003 and relinquished his post on April 2, 2009 which means that he was PM for about five years five months.
Mahathir is a formidable strategist as he had managed to vanquish all his opponents while at the same time running a tight ship. His policies were simple, straightforward and to the point. This is what strategy is all about – at the highest level it is simple and at its most basic.
Take for instance these few fine examples:

REALLY? The Najib brand appeals to Kedah

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 06:28 PM PDT

WINDS OF CHANGE- Support is returning to Barisan Nasional from two key groupsUmno ready to redeem itself
REALLY? The Najib brand appeals to KedahIT'S rare to see many picnickers at Pantai Merdeka, the only sand beach in mainland Kedah, on a working day. So, when 15,000 of the state's farming and fishing community thronged the beach, 60km south of Alor Star, on Wednesday, it turned into a festival-like outing. There, many got to meet or see Datuk Seri Najib Razak in person for the first time, thanks to the Kedah Farmers' Association -- its leaders had been instrumental in pulling the crowd to the Himpunan Peladang, Penternak dan Nelayan Kedah.
The prime minister, who was on a one-day working visit to Kedah, was given a rousing welcome as he arrived in a boat from Tanjung Dawai, escorted by 40 fishing boats.
Gatherings of farmers and fishermen have been a big deal in Kedah. The two groups form the bulk of Kedah's 1.8 million population, making up a huge percentage of its one million registered voters, which Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat are actively wooing ahead of key national polls that could return BN to power in this agriculture-based state.

Pegundi Melayu batu penghalang Pakatan tawan Johor, kata pemimpin

Posted: 02 Nov 2012 06:26 PM PDT
