Meters sqaure to square ft?

Posted: 22 Mar 2012 09:21 AM PDT

I live in italy and our apartment, according to bldg mgr is 13 meters square. That doesn't sound right, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyone have any idea how to convert that to sq. ft? I use a calculator but it comes to 130 sq. ft..which is wrong!

Answer on Meters sqaure to square ft?

It's 140 square feet.

13 * 100 * 100 = 130000 cm^2

130000 / 2.54 / 2.54 = 20150 inches squared

20150 / 12 / 12 = 139.93 square feet, basically 140.

If you want to jump there in one step, then 1m is approximately 3.28 feet, in which case:

13 * 3.28 * 3.28 = 139.8592, rounds to 140 square feet again.

Edit: Metres squared and square metres are the same thing, and if your building manager says that your apartment is 13 m^2 and you think that it isn't, either he is wrong, you're wrong, or both of you are wrong. Why don't you break out the measuring tape and find out for yourself?

It could well be a little on the low side, 13 m^2 is about the size of a medium sized room.
