Answer on Average income in Italy?

It depends what the job is, for example:

Airline Pilot 6,080

Car Mechanic 1,490

Engineer 3,159

Also it depends where. In Milan it's 30,000 euro but in Puglia it's 12,000 euro.

A question on human evolution?

Posted: 22 Sep 2011 03:27 PM PDT

there has been several cool mutations identified in human for example there is a village in Italy where people are especially resistant to heart disease and high cholesterol and there was a gut and some of his family who had really strong bones nearly unbreakable (in a serous car crash with no broken bones)

and 10 percent of Europeans carry a gene which provides resistant to the AIDS and if to people have the gene and have an offspring the offspring will be nearly immune to AIDS this originated in the middle ages from the Black Death

there is a gene in tibetan and Andean people which helps them better survive at high altitudes

so my question is that in 10 to 20 million years will the decedent of these people become different species what about in 100 million years

Answer on A question on human evolution?

In 10-20 million years we will be either extinct, which is a normal evolutionary event, or evolved into something else. It would not take much imagination to envisage a world that has been destroyed by pollution or war, in which case technology may not be available to humans anymore. We may just choke on our own pollution, or succumb to epidemics, or a combination of these factors. The world may revert to a religious ignorance, where science is evil and knowledge is destroyed and lost forever. In any case, with extinction another species may dominate, such as large carnivores - dogs, bears, cats etc. until they become extinct, and the cycle continues until the Earth is destroyed in 5-6 billion years time when the Sun becomes a red giant and makes life impossible.

But back to your question, most people do not live in high altitudes, or require stronger bones - these may actually be a disadvantage in normal circumstances, so will not be passed on to the general population. Immunity to many plagues is, likewise, a double-edged sword. Being a carrier of the Cystic fibrosis gene may help you survive epidemics of Cholera by reducing water loss in the gut, but is definitely not an advantage in modern western society.

The answer is, that what may be a benefit, vie a genetic advantage today, may be a disadvantage in a thousand years time. What may be immunity to a world-wide epidemic today, may be utilised by a virus to wipe us all out in two hundred years time. So there is no way to predict our future evolution.
