Posted: 05 Aug 2011 07:57 PM PDT KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- Road fatalities also contribute to an increase in the number of orphans in the country said the Prime Minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.She said a study by the Malaysian Orphans Welfare Organisation showed an increase in the number of orphans whenever parents are reported dead in road accidents, and statistics showed that there are more than 300,000 orphans in the country. Rosmah's speech was delivered by the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) welfare chief Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong, during a breaking of fast with the Federal Territory Islamic Orphans Welfare Association (Perkayatim) at the Tabung Haji building here. Dr Aishah received RM200,000 including RM30,000 from Bakti, Pilgrims Fund Board, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad and several individuals on behalf of Rosmah as the patron of Perkayatim. |
