Answer on Native German speaker. help please?

Hey Sara,

I am a native speaker. I translated the text but I didnt get the sentence with "mostly...". I changed/added some small words that it sounds better.

What exactly is Venice Carnival?

Posted: 22 Jul 2011 07:35 AM PDT

I'm doing a speech about things to do in Venice, Italy and Venice Carnival is one thing I'd like to talk about. But I'm a little confusing on the concept. Is this actually a popular event? And what do you do there? When and where does this event take place? Also, what are other sites/things to do in Venice, Italy? All suggestions are well appreciated!

Answer on What exactly is Venice Carnival?

It takes place just when carnival takes place in the rest of Italy: sometime in February.

It's a special event because Venice has got a long tradition of carnivals and masquerades; during carnival you can see lots of people dressed with beautiful costumes.

Check out this link, it's a very exclusive masquerade party which is held every year in Venice:

The former Independent Republic of Venice was a place where money, power and culture mingled together; the Republic reached its peak during the 17th and 18th centuries. The heritage from that period can still be seen and felt everywhere in the city.

Carnival related events aside, there's plenty of other things to do in Venice:
