The Malaysian Students Department Australia issues a warning on its website.

PETALING JAYA: The government has warned Malaysian students in Australia against joining Bersih rallies in that country.

"Students in Australia are advised against being involved in the Bersih 2.0 rally on July 9, 2011, in any location in Australia," it said.
"The organizing of such assemblies and the involvement of Malaysian students in them will discredit the name of Malaysia in the eyes of the Australian citizens."

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 — The July 9 Bersih rally is causing concern in two political analysts, who fear it may be used by unsavoury elements to create full-scale riots in the city. Prof Dr Ahmad Atory Hussain of Universiti Sains Malaysia said it takes just a small section of the crowd, which organisers expect to be in the hundreds of thousands, to spark chaos.
"The organisers might say the assembly will be peaceful, but one individual is all it takes to cause mob behaviour," the sociologist was quoted in a Bernama Online report.

Rakyat diminta berjimat tapi pemimpin boros

Posted: 28 Jun 2011 08:09 PM PDT

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 Jun: Ketua Sekretariat Pakatan Rakyat Perak, Drs Khalil Idham Lim mempersoal kewajaran kos perbelanjaan lawatan rasmi Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak dan isteri, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor dari 2008 hingga 2011 berjumlah RM17,118,650.58 kerana kos sedemikian satu bentuk pembaziran wang rakyat.

Posted: 28 Jun 2011 08:07 PM PDT

My friend, Ibrahim Ali

Posted: 28 Jun 2011 07:54 PM PDT

My friend, Ibrahim AliMy friend Ibrahim Ali seems to be in the limelight most of the time. Watching from a distance, with great amusement at his antics really makes my day. Not a day goes by, without him scheming and plotting, always looking for the ultimate controversy that will seal his reputation as the Number One clown in the country. He does know what is going on though. He gets his kick from being able to tickle the nation. He doesn't care too much about reputation and his hit-and-run tactics serves him well.
But he is also a great asset in the grand scheme of things. Before we condemn him, we should look at the big picture. His employment of reverse psychology has worked well. It has catapulted him into the Hall of Fame. He is the only politician that has the attention of everyone in this country. Not even Najib enjoys half the kind of 'popularity' he projects.

Waging war? The charge simply doesn't stick!

Posted: 28 Jun 2011 07:53 PM PDT

Waging war? The charge simply doesn't stick! The way the PSM members were arrested and accused reminds us of the proverb, "Give a dog a bad name and hang him."
That's what the police have done. They resurrected the communist bogey and concocted the myth of waging war against the king and hoped that these ludicrous accusations will stick. Unfortunately, the accusations are far-fetched and come across as scandalous and out-right lies.
The PSM is a grassroots party dedicated to socialism and to the peaceful attainment of goals that would bring benefits to the marginalized and helpless members of the Malaysian community. Their concern for the welfare of the Orang Asli, their struggle for the urban poor, their solidarity with the homeless, their unwavering support for the evicted, their demand for decent basic wages for the largely exploited labour class, all this speaks eloquently to justify their existence in the political area.
They have never been opportunistic and did not abandon the constituency that did not support the party. They struggled on, in spite of their electoral losses and remained faithful to their chosen constituency. It is this perseverance that paid off for Dr Jeyakumar Devaraj who ultimately defeated Dato Seri Samy Vellu and captured the Sungai Siput parliamentary constituency in 2008.
Never at any point did PSM ever root for the Communist Party. The PSM's ways are based on peaceful attainment of their objectives whereas the Communist Party is associated with armed struggle. The way of violence is anathema for the PSM.

Bersih a dirty word and free and fair elections are taboo

Posted: 28 Jun 2011 07:52 PM PDT

Bersih a dirty word and free and fair elections are tabooWe have just finished a wonderful holiday in Malaysia. Except for a few things, like the toilets and the drivers, it was great. The people are friendly and helpful. The food is quite exciting and the country is spectacular.
There was one incident, which caused us no concern and no problem, but left us more than a little baffled. We were in the Chow Kit area buying some things to take home when we found some shirts with "BERSIH 2" on them. We asked the man what the word meant and he said "clean".
So, we bought some. They were good quality and cheap. As we were leaving the stall area we were approached by a man who warned us not to wear the shirts or we would be in trouble with the police. We went back to our hotel thinking that we misheard the man at the stall who sold us the shirts and that bersih must be a very dirty word. So we asked the concierge and he told us it meant "clean". So we were confused.

Finally, Malaysia on the cusp of a New World Order

Posted: 28 Jun 2011 07:51 PM PDT

Finally, Malaysia on the cusp of a New World OrderAbraham Lincoln once said 'the only thing you have to fear is fear itself.' How true! But then fear is also the weapon used by tyrants and dictators to force their citizens into absolute obedience and submission.
Over the course of history, man has risen against despots and the cruel yoke of tyranny. An uprising occurs when citizens feel the yoke of oppression weighing heavily upon them and upon reaching the point of no-return decide to cast aside their fears to start an uprising.
Ancient Chinese history has a long record of many uprisings. But of course, China is a very old kingdom whereas Malaysia is a young nation. Even Malaysia's independence was borne out of negotiations although there has never been a really serious uprising in Malaysian history.

The eagles are landing: Citizens must speak out against Umno madness

Posted: 28 Jun 2011 07:50 PM PDT

The eagles are landing: Citizens must speak out against Umno madnessNo, it is not some invasion by nature owing to drastic changes in climatic conditions. No, it is not the US air defense descending on Malaysia. It is not even the motivating challenges to dare to excel in your professional, business and personal lives - like the programs corporate leaders promote to their employees.
Far from it, it is about your very basic right to a democratic life and times supported by civil liberties that are pursued by the sensible governments the world over that is now seriously under threat in Malaysia.
Two new incidents in particular refer and could very well be the tip of an iceberg.
The PDRM has descended into parliament to execute their police work. According to Lim Kit Siang they have entered the nation's premise of immunity – the pinnacle of democracy, to take statements from two politicians.

Bad for business? It's a money-spinner: SALAM BERSIH!

Posted: 28 Jun 2011 07:47 PM PDT

Bad for business? It's a money-spinner: SALAM BERSIH!When I first read the "traders/businesspersons association" (or whatever the fancy name is) call on the Bersih 2.0 organizers to call-off the rally because it might get unruly and disrupt their business, I was shocked, for two reasons.
Firstly, it appeared that these poor, naive souls were under the impression that it was the BERSIH 2.0 organizers that fired water cannons, launched tear gas, and beat people up with batons.
No wonder they were so terrified – wouldn't you be, if you thought the upholders of law, and defenders of rights and champions of democracy, and fervent believers in our Federal Constitution actually drove big, frightening tanks and shot stinging rounds of water bombs on ordinary citizens, or raised their arms and thwacked down with all their might at those peacefully walking for fundamental liberties?
