Which is more Roman/Latin Romania, Portugal, Spain, Italy , France?

And when I mean Roman/Latin I meant which has more roman genes, I mean its confusing because Italy (where the actually city of Rome is located) been invaded twice by the Ostrogoths and the Lombards. France has been invaded once by the Franks. Spain/Portugal has been invaded by the Arab Muslims and the Visigoths. Romania invaded by I think the Hungarians, but I'm not sure.

I would say that Italy is the most roman. Even though Italy was invaded by the Ostrogoths, Lombards, etc., their rule wasn't that long, and the return to the original culture and way of life wasn't that far behind. I don't think the goths were able to mix with the society that much, and be able to mess up the Roman ethnicity too bad.



Portugal, Spain, France, and Romania are out of the question. The Iberian peninsula (Portugal and Spain) were mixed with Arabs during the Middle Ages and then in the 1600s/1700s, the French King's dynasty made it to the Spanish throne. France(Gaul at the time) was Roman until the Franks were able to unite themselves to form an empire in Northeastern France and expand southwest. Romania wasn't Roman for very long, as they were invaded a whole mess of times by peoples such as the Mongols, Goths, Arabs, and Turks (as they were apart of the Ottoman Empire for about 400 years).



One could argue that southern Germany could've been the most Roman up until the 20th century, as the Holy Roman Empire, a distilled mix between Roman's and Franks, had lasted until the early 1800s. One could also argue Far Western Turkey (forget the name, its the peninsula with Istanbul on it) could be the most Roman as the Byzantine Empire was purely Roman and was able to hold out until the Ottoman Empire came.
