Posted: 05 Jun 2011 12:06 AM PDT U.S., Italy, France, Britian, Germany, Japan, China, and the Soviet Union Answer on What were the financial or economical conditions for the following countries after World War 2? US had prospered during the war, so they had a better footing than the rest. Also, they took Japan as a virtual colony, which boosted them even more, and possibly damaged Japan's economy. Italy was in a terrible state, pretty much spent out. France and Britain also were weakened, as most European states had bought arms from USA and owed a debt to them. Germany was divided into two, with the west getting subsidies and the east becoming a Soviet extension. China was weakened before and during the war by Japan, and continued to have internal conflict apart from the WWII. Soviet Union lost much of its western front, but Stalin had previously set the industry in the east. They were pretty strong, only slightly weaker than the US. Also, they had puppet states feeding their economy which helped with recovery.
