Can someone help authenticate a vintage bag just given to me? Posted: 05 May 2011 10:58 AM PDT As a gift for getting an internship with vogue, my grandmother gave me her Gucci bag that I have been begging for over the past 10 years. She says it's real, and it is beautiful. It's got to be from the 80s, and it looks damn good for a bag that's been used over thepast 20+ years. It needs a little repair on the bottom corners on the leather, and the straps have pulled a bit. Other than that, it's real leather- blue canvas signature and the stripe is blue and red. It has the label inside (leather) and the writing is gold leaf.. It says "Gucci" and it says something else next to it that I can't make out. In script, there are two words both beginning with "F" . The second word looks like "Florence' and underneath in all caps it says 'made in italy'. Ther eis no serial number under the flap, but did they have serial numbers that early on?' The inside is lined in leather. It's a satchel stye (almost like a smaller toiletries bag), with two straps- very sturdy. Can anyone help with details? Answer on Can someone help authenticate a vintage bag just given to me? i'm pretty sure its real because people were cool and actually bought real handbags back then. and im pretty sure if your grandma says its real it is. :] |
Posted: 05 May 2011 05:31 AM PDT Ciao. Ok so this may seem like a very ironic question but I'm talking seriously here. I live in the most northern part of the U.S. so I don't meet very many Italians there, but if I do, then they're actually like, from Italy. Every time I visit the beach house in Florida I meet heaps of Italians, but ironically they're always on some sort of "down-low" and whisper and only speak amongst themselves unless they are spoken to. They never laugh or even raise there voices or yell etc. Practically everyone in my family is a big fan of Italy and Italian people so they're always trying to socialize with the native Italians. When this happens their face usually turns red, or something, they smile, and move away. I don't really understand it. People are always saying how they're loud and rough but from what I see they're completely the opposite, at least to people here in FL. They're so discreet, like rabbits. They're also nice sometimes but always quiet. Why? PS please don't take offence, I'm not really trying to generalize. Answer on Why are Italians so quiet? Idk what Italians you've talked to, but the ones I know are loud and sound like they are having an argument even though they are just talking normally! So idk I can't help you there. |
