Saiful's sperm found inside his own anus, indicating DNA was planted
Written by Stan Lee, Malaysia Chronicle

The Malaysian government's DNA expert Dr Seah Lay Hong continued to duck tough questions from Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim's lawyers, even though a chemist report from her own department confirmed that complainant Saiful Bukhari Azlan's DNA had been found in semen samples extracted from his own anus.

The significance of such a finding suggests that the DNA samples taken by the BN government was planted and underscores the malicious prosecution pressed by Prime Minister Najib Razak against Anwar, his political arch rival.

"Firstly, I think it is a physical impossibility for Saiful to ejaculate into his own anus. Secondly, why would he want to do such a thing? It is more probable that somebody has been trying to frame Anwar but messed up badly. We would also point out that the chemist report was among those documents that Najib refused to allow the defense lawyers access to," PKR vice president Tian Chua told Malaysia Chronicle.

Selective testimony

Anwar's lawyers had earlier in today's court hearing pointed out that the chemist report showed the presence of at least 5 DNA profiles from 5 different males, but Dr Seah failed to indicate such a fact in her testimony.

Under cross-examination, she had initially acknowledged only the presence of three DNA profiles but when quizzed further by Ramkarpal Singh, she did not deny the findings of the two other DNA profiles.

However, she refused to offer any explanation as to whose, how and where the two additional DNA profiles could have come from, claiming that it was "speculative".

In the afternoon session, Ramkarpal pointed out another startling discovery in the chemist report. He said the report also showed Saiful's DNA profiles were present in both sperm extract and non-sperm extract found in the high rectal area.

"I suggest to you the profile in B8 (swab) is Saiful, therefore (it) can be interpreted that [his] semen was found up his own anus," Malaysian Insider reported Ramkarpal as saying in court on Monday.

Dr Seah denied this, saying that Saiful's DNA profile fell in the non-sperm category. She appeared to have completely ignored the part of the report that showed Saiful's DNA was also found in the sperm extract.

"What Dr Seah has not answered is that his DNA is also found under the sperm extract of B8. Saiful's DNA is not only the main contributor in this case, but it is also found in both extracts," said Sankara Nair, another of Anwar's lawyers.

Plunging Malaysia and her judiciary into disgrace

The 63-year old Anwar was accused of sodomising Saiful at a posh condominium in Kuala Lumpur in 2008, just weeks after he announced his decision to make a comeback to Parliament.

He has denied the charges and accused Najib and wife Rosmah Mansor of plotting with Saiful to frame him and derail his political career.

The case tagged Sodomy II by the press has been embroiled in controvery since day one, plunging the country and its judicial system into international notoriety.

Despite calls from lawmakers around the world, Najib refused to follow United Nations guidelines for a fair trial, where the defense is granted access to the same information as the prosecution so as to ensure a level playing field when the hearing began.

Najib and his Umno colleagues have tried to brazen it out, but Sodomy II has taken a toll on Malaysia's image. Last year when British tycoon Richard Branson was in Kuala Lumpur, he advised the government to drop the case as it disgusted investors and gave Malaysia a bad name.
